I agree; it was a sign. 4 years will go by fast.

MANGO UPDATE
My husband saw a stand on the road with Mangos for $.20 each today. He said no one was there manning it.
Ginger, it was on Melbourne Ave (connecting Babcock with Melbourne Causeway). All the other road side stands have been $1

EARTHBOX ORDER was delivered today. That was fast.

Why do you all mill the tomatoes? I'm getting ready to can sauce and salsa in jars to give to my winter neighbors when we get back and have been reading all the variable ways of doing it and my head is spinning.

Do you mill them to can or just to freeze?

Yes, might try a test batch. Hubby wont eat it if it is sweet but everyone else will that i would be giving it to. Did you remove seeds and gel?

No, the gel has lots of flavor and the good acids for balance. I do remove the skins.

Default Growing Peppers in the summer in Florida

Ginny / Larry - These pictures were taken on 7/28 and 7/29 - some of my mature pepper plants. They are Marconi and have set a lot of fruit long before it got really hot (90). I counted the # currently in the Walmart bag and there are 11. The EB was too hard to count.

For the Walmart bag, I am bottom watering in that lid; took the picture to show how dry the mix it (pro-mix). Also notice how fat the stem is.

In the EB, the mix is also dry - the box blew over from wind so my feeble attempt for staking got messed up along with the rain cover.

Last spring, I'm positive my pepper plants living in the EB were done in June. Looking back, I'm sure it was root rot. I did have a huge harvest then so no complaints.

Ginny,I suggest use none of the sugar, then taste and add.

My husband isnt super salsa crazy anyways so Im going to cook enough for one pint jar in a separate pan for him and then adjust the sugar in the recipe for the remaining amount in the other pan. I think the sugar should be in there for the rest. Just makes it better in the cooked tomato recipes i think. My husband is the only one in our whole group that doesnt like any sweetness in his foods. And most of the time I will make him fresh salsa anyways... :-) I'm canning this batch mostly as a fun gift for our friends... :-)
