Fingerling Potatoes
Been wanting to grow fingerling potatoes, the place I buy all my garlic (grow organic.com) has the best prices @ $4.99/lb. Went to place an order today for
La Ratte, Russian Banana, and a red fingerling...went to checkout my order and it said Cannot ship potatoes to Illinois... Wonder what's up with that? Any ideas where I can order that ships to Illinois? |

Don't know about the shipping problem or about how close you are to garden centers, etc. but fingerlings seem to be more popular all the time and there are several places close to me now that sell fingerling seed potatoes in late winter/early spring, including Agway.

Another suggestion is to buy organic potatoes from the store and let them put out sprouts.
Even the non organic ones will do it after awhile. Cut the potatoes up so each piece has at least one eye. Set these pieces out cut side up for a day or two to skin over and plant you will be good to go. Then each year keep some potatoes back in storage and do it all over again you will never have to buy seed potatoes again. Worth |

Must be winter :] did a bit of looking but did not find any reason for not shipping to Illinois.
Emailed grand teton organics and got a reply back that they do ship to Illinois. http://www.grandtetonorganics.com/

I would call the company. My guess is that the potatoes would freeze in shipment in northern states this time of the year.

Email from them. Hi Henry. Yes, we do. We will ship to IL in April once the threat of freezing is over.
