Folks, among others, I have flowers on the following tomato plants:
Cherokee Purple, Early Girl, Texas Wild, and Brandywine tomatoes. About how long will it take for me to have ripened fruit? |

55 to 65 days, early 65 to 80, early to mid season over 80 days, late season And that's time from putting out plants to ripe fruit. A general timeline for one variety was up up by Paul, using a large beefsteak variety, I forget the name right now, with pictures, that might help in a general way. Here's the link to a previous discussion about Paul's link: http://tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=5888 And you can see that accessing it depended on the browser used. My browser has been AOL since the mid-80's and I had no trouble opening it all those years ago when Paul put it up and most recently as well. Hope that helps, Carolyn

You picked relatively late bloomers, but sometimes there is a tradeoff with taste and earliness in beefsteak varieties.

I have had Cherokee Purple in around 65 days and even Brandywine doesn't take much longer in the southern heat. I'm not familiar with the others.

Carolyn's link opened another TV thread.
![]() I remember seeing that pictorial timeline. As I recall it was 54 days from bud getting ready, to vine ripe beef steak. So probably a cherry type will take like 40 days and bigger beef steaks might take 65 days(Bud to ripe fruit) I use it as a ball park number. In my climate it will take longer than that. ![]() |
