Tania-Looks good-what year are your asparagus? My salad greens season is over until the fall-its going to be 88 degrees here today, and in the 90's later this week. Just cant keep greens going in the sustained heat. I grow my greens from September to about mid to end of April.

Michael,

Thanks!

My asparagus is 3 years old (5 plants), and it has been in this place for 1 year (moved last February). Given the age and the move, I think it has been doing pretty well. And it is delicious - I've picked it twice so far, and more spears coming. I planted 18 more crowns this spring which I started from seed last January.

I wish I could grow my greens in winter, but it is a bit too cold here for them - however, I am going to try to overwinter some greens in a cold frame, I think it will work for Romaine lettuce and spinach. We are truly missing the greens from October to March - I hate to pay a premium price for the baby greens at the superstore in winter, given that my family easily consumes 2-3 large heads of lettuce in one meal

There are so many other delicious things you can grow in heat which we don't have luxury groing here - like melons. Yummmm. Sometimes I think I'd trade the cool weather for heat, and sometimes I don't

This spring has been unusually cold here - we had 34F this morning, and my corn and beans refuse to germinate.

Your tumblers look great. Mine are still puny and small . I thought I would pick asparagus this year(3rd year) but they were still too small. Another thing that could use some better soil here I guess.
