Earl, looking good. I set two plants this year, because after all the "Green Giant this and Green Giant that" talk last year, I wanted to make absolutely sure I was able to try it. Talk about some productive plants!

I must have picked over 130 or so fruits (I stopped counting at 100) and I'm still getting a few, although the size finally has dropped off a bit.

Plants ended up being real monsters; they were even bigger than Gogosha.

Suze, I grew Green Giant last year and I'm surprised that you say you have about 130 fruits off two plants, so far.

What size fruits are you talking about? I mean the bulk of the initial fruits.

Carolyn, I was a bit surprised as well. They were in very large containers too.

I didn't actually weigh a lot of fruits, but most of the first fifty fruits or so were probably in the 10-16 oz. range, with a few a bit larger. After that, they went down to about 7-12 oz. Now, the few left are much smaller, maybe 5oz. or so, but still taste good. I had similar results with Aunt Ginny's Purple as well.

A few of my seedlings were started as early as the week before Christmas and have been outside since late Jan-early Feb. Except for a couple of brief and mild freezes (I protected the plants), I basically didn't have a winter here.

I got my Green Giant from Dave at the CHOPTAG Plant Swap. It’s doing just fine also. No fruit set but plenty of blossoms.

Green Giant is my FAVORITE tomato (today :wink: ) I am going to grow 10 Green Giants next year. BUT I grew a tomato called Russian Green that is smaller more prolific and earlier that had a similiar taste. It was planted late and recieved not the best space-went on to tomato heaven. I will grow a few of those again!

Just from memory these are some of the green when ripes that I've grown:

Grandma Oliver's
Charlie's Green
Green, aka Dorothy's Green
Green Grape
Lime Green Salad
Moldovan Green
Aunt Ruby's German Green
Humph
Green Giant
Cherokee Green
Evergreen
Green Zebra

.......and so far the best tasting for me has been Cherokee Green, by a large margin, and plants have been vigorous and very productive.
