Default It isn't that hard.

Folks here are either chile arbol or some other pepper seeds I took out of some 5 year old peppers I had in the cabinet.
They were dumped in the garden and forgot about.
Here they are sprouting.

Its like winter sowing, I have done it and it works pretty good for certain crops. You should let those go and see what happens. Often pepper plants seem to overcome crowding and less than perfect conditions when left to them selves.

Unfortunately up here we can't get away with direct sowing stuff like peppers because they probably wouldn't germinate until some time in June and get killed by frost just four months later.

Volunteer tomatoes don't start popping up in my garden until well after my transplants are several feet tall and covered in flowers.

It's why I always pull up the volunteers -- I know they'll never survive long enough to produce. 😥

Same here. I just found a buch of pepper seedling in a container that had been ignored for some time. Surprises are nice.

Compost pile peppers.
These are some I dumped after making powder.
They came from dried store bought guajillo peppers.

Worth, this thread gives me newfound hope for the pepper seeds you sent to us. I'm about to clear the tomatoes off the kitchen bar so we can look at the pepper seeds we have.

Of all of the pepper seeds I sent make sure you try the Bulgarian carrot and the red and yellow mushroom peppers or what ever they are called.

If you want some of the guajillo seeds or chili arbole I will be happy to send you some I have millions of them waiting in the pods.
Those two combined are fantastic for making chili sauce.
BUT they are so cheap in the store here dried I doubt I will ever grow them myself.
So far I have went through about a pint of the chili arbole powder I made this spring.
