Default How many bags of 8Qt Perlite do I add for Raybo's Mix?

In my mix pile I have 3 cubic feet MG potting mix, 2 cubic feet Pine Bark. My Perlite bags are small-8 quarts. How many do I add to this mix? Oh, and can I add a .75 cf bag of mushroom compost?

With Raybo's 3:2:1 Combo Mix, you would use approx 1/2 cubic ft. of Perlite per 'Tainer. For your specific mix pile, you would add 1 cubic ft. of Perlite.

I want to add bone meal, blood meal, and pelletized garden lime but don't can't figure out how much of it I should add to this huge pile on my balcony. I know alot of people don't add all this stuff but I am an all or nothing girl. I want to get the best veggies possible and I don't want them hungry. After this, I promise I'm all done.

tulsa,

I am a happy Tomatovillian (or is that "villain") doing what I can to contribute here. That is plenty for me...

Regarding how many 8 qt. bags to make one cubic ft, hopefully someone else can answer for you. I was never very good at Math.

Don't ask me why, but that made me laugh. I've probably just gone crazy from trying to learn all this lol. Any idea how much of the meal or lime I could add?

tulsa,

I can't comment (and mislead you) on ingredients that I haven't field tested myself, so no help on the mushroom compost, bone meal, etc.

On the Lime, the EarthBox Company Manual says to add 2 Cups Dolomite Lime in their container, which holds about 1.6 cubic ft. of Mix. I have no reason to doubt their wisdom on arriving at this ratio.

BTW, just checked a converter site and 1 cubic ft. equals 25 dry Quarts, so for your pile, 3 bags of the Perlite should do it.

When trying to calculate my total mix-do I add like 3cf MG + 2cf Bark + 3/4cf compost to equal 6 cf of mix? Do all of the ingredients including perlite count?
