Doctor in the house?

Early this spring (Feb 15) I set out 5 different varieties of tomatoes. All grew luxuriously, bloomed and set fruit. Then the vine leaves began to curl and die near the ground - the tops continued to grow and bloom. Though the indeterminate plants are now 6-foot high, only the tops are continuing to grow.

I understand the only way to get rid of the verticillium wilt fungus in the soil by solarization. Any suggestions?

There is a method of allowing sun thru sheathing ,plastic,pvcs,etc to heat soil up when fields are fallow.It is time and temperature sensitive to work only up to penetration of heat.Some more costly methods have been touched on here before ,see below.
