I grew a tomato called Chang Li. It's a yellow pear shaped cherry tomato with a good taste.

You may have gotten the seed from me. I have sent out a lot. It's my favorite yellow cherry.
I'm learning that yellow cherries are very dependent upon good weather in order to taste sweet. In a year with a lot of rain, they are bland. The less moisture they get, within reason - not enough dryness to cause BER, the sweeter they taste. Maybe that is true to some extent with all tomatoes, but I think it is exaggerated with yellow cherries. |

Hi,
Would single stem pruning work for Chang Li? Or is it a bushy plant like Yellow pear? |

It is a large, sprawling indeterminate, so I think it would take well to pruning.

Since you write a sprawling plant, maybe I better let it grow wildly? Currant tomatoes for example, produce too little if pruned to a single stem so they get only pruned when they are in my way. I want some/a lot of fruit

I think you are right that cherry tomatoes are best not to be pruned to a single stem.

I also think many yellow cherries are yellow before they are ripe. Folks pick them too soon, taste them, pronounce them bland or a spitter but they actually aren’t ripe yet. Colour is not the only or necessarily the best indicator of ripeness.
