dfollette 2019 micro tomatoes
An update on my dfollette micro tomatoes.
As of this mornings pics, I have 5 micro angora leaf under 10 inches including the one gal grow bag. Starting to show flower clusters. (three shown in pic). Working name PicoloGato, (little kitty) A few dozen each of a rugosa leaf I've been growing 3 seedings each year. Proving stable, or very close. Just potting up now. Testing one of each together in a one gal bag. (I have so many to play with). Working names are LadyWilliam, a multi flora, small dark cherry, and SirCharles, a larger dark cherry, a heavy cluster form. The third not pictured is a nippled grape that showed up last year. I like that the early growth habit is consistent in size of each. LW smaller. |

So three working lines - PicoloGato, Lady William, Sir Charles? Do all three preserve dfollette's original search for multiflora? or only LW?
How is the taste of LW and SC? |

I'm just a spoke in Dan's obsessive-creative-crossing wheel.
I tend to stick with a project unless I find a spitter. I've culled and culled for size, no pruning. LW and SC are similar in juicy dark cherry flavor. I'm growing a few dozen cherries this season so a follow-up blind tasting will happen soon. Pic from last year. The forth is the nipple semi-grape. (working name AuntSylvia) |

Here's the Picolo Gato F6, about 5 weeks from germination, under 45watt LEDs.
I'm also germinating 10 seeds of the 82X - F2 fuzzy carrot leaf. |

Based on the pictures, it looks like they all preserve multiflora?

Oakley,
What lines of D Follette's are you growing? I have grown quite a few out so I can relate to his lines better. Thanks, Sue |

Thank you Scotty for the crosses/line reference.
I do wish could get all that we are growing in one place. And the references. I'm frequently using the search function looking for past posts. Various key words, etc, and not finding what I'm looking for. (dFollette's T'Ville Micro Tomato Project) Discussed before that this is very informal as no one wants to take on a broad based project... Still chuckling about those incredible 'fuzzy pancakes' that look like they are growing in basmati, So cool. Anxious to see the fruit. I found this pic in my files from 2017. All three PL/rugosa are from the same seed packet. (I eliminated the others due to taste). Tasting gave it a 8.5. No other notes. |

11X is one of the two dfollett micros I wanted to try; would like to know who has grown in out the farthest. Are you also getting potato leaf? I'm assuming that LW and SC are both from 11X? |

If the first two pictures in post #3 are 11X, it looks like multiflora no? |

Yes, those look like multiflora to me.
My understanding was that Dan was looking for micro dwarf, multiflora. If we found those characteristics on a plant that had tasty fruit, he would like to receive seeds. Otherwise, I believe we were free to pursue any that were of interest, which is why I've continued with this one. Not sure if I'll continue with it after this season or not because it's a little late for my liking. |

Is the picture in post #10 showing? Pic of seed packet from Dan he sent late Fall 2016.
No seed from anywhere else. Pictures in post #1 above are 2019, taken 2 days ago. All other pics in this thread were posted previously....last year and 2017. No coordination among those of us growing. Dan sends seed to anyone interested when he has time and checks in. No place to post results. We usually dig around for the original post where he first offered seed. In fact, I should have posted there. I doubt he will ever see this. (I will reference as the season continues). |
