Tiny yellow flat spots

I do have a pest book & haven't had the time to attempt to look this up. & if I can ever figure out how to post pictures, I'm sure that will help! But in the mean time, I'll describe what I found today:

I had a leaf that looked like it had a dime sized yellow spot on it. When I looked closely, it was a cluster of very tiny (1/2 mm?) perfectly round, flat, bright yellow spots which looked like a cluster of eggs laid side by side - probably 50 or 60 of them.

Does anyone know what might have laid those eggs? I pulled the leaf off the plant and destoyed them. They were laid on the top side of the leaf.

I've been finding eggs in clusters that have an almost hexagonal pattern, and the eggs are sort of glossy brown. I discovered they're probably stink bug eggs. I don't know if yours could be some sort of beneficial insect or not. Have you found any pests in your garden lately? Could belong to them.

I have just managed to get the garden in over the past few days - so plants are small ( about 8" to 18") & the garden is pretty "barren" right now - bare soil, tomato plants, peppers. I don't have much insect activity - just that cluster of tiny round flat yellow eggs(?) on that one leaf...

I can't identify them, but now I am especially curious as I just found the same exact thing on the underside of a SFT leaf. I'm mostly curious as to whether they are beneficial or not.

I have just gone quickly through my book "Insect Disease & Weed I.D. Guide", & there are many pictures of insects, life cycle info, etc. It shows the insects in every stage EXCEPT what the eggs look like

So I will have to take more time & read each individual entry to read about egg descriptions.

I just found some loosely distributed yellow eggs, maybe not as small, near a huge number of aphids on a sunflower leaf! I don't know whether there's a correlation to the aphids or not. Nothing bothering my tomatoes yet. I've killed a few stinkbugs, that's it.

I would love to see a booklet or something with pics identifying eggs/masses in the garden. I usually destroy to be safe, which I hate to do.

I don't know of a website, but I just did a google images search on ladybug eggs and sadly, that is what I found and killed. Darn. And, logically, it was on my SFT which is infested with whiteflies and aphids.

You just go to google and type in ladybug eggs and click on images. It is a nice little resource for looking up pictures of things. But the link to those images:

OK. I can breath a sigh of relief - those eggs had more dimension to them; the ones I found were very flat. I'll have to continue to search...
