Sakharnyi Pudovichok

Has anyone here grown Sakharnyi Pudovichok translate Sugary Pounder that is deep pink in color and has little seeds with very meaty nearly sugary side to it?
Because this is description of Sakharnyi Pudovichok from SibSad which is seed company that has decent ratings and also description from growers in former USSR areas.
Sakharnyi Pudovichok that I've grown is midseason red with orange tone that is fairly juicy with very tomatoeye taste not specifically sweet...
pretty similar to what Tania lists on her site but am suspecting it is not correct variety.

Only from Jeff Casey's seed which I suspect he got from Tatiana. If you think that is an incorrect variety then it makes no sense for me to comment.

I grew it out last year - it was not sweet in my opinion.

Two plants were grown, both different, one being extremely productive and the other not so productive.

I received seed thru Carolyn's offer and gave my report. I was disappointed.

The one I grew in 2011 sounds like the one you grew, Linda- red/orange, large beefsteak- not sweet.

Did any of you find the time to read my link above where questions were asked about this variety and what Andrey initially said about it and then kind of backtracked?

I just do not have the time right now to check that Fall 2004 Feedback thread to see what those who got seed from my offer might have said and might also have shown pictures.

I am growing it now, same description as yours, red orange, but quite large, and also balanced with a fair amount of sweetness.

If your mother language is English you probably cannot pronounce the first part. But if you are familiar with German you can

Can you pronounce Johan Sebastian Bach ? (not bock !, but baKH)

KH in Russian is pronounce like CH in German. There is no English equivalent.

Sakhar- nyi == sugar like
Arbuz-nyi = watermelon like

It is easy to pronounce the last part : Pudovichok
Pudo ( poodo) vichok ( like which oak)

It is well known fact that seed packs in former USSR could contain any mystery seeds despite original label. It is not even color that seems to be different- as Sib Sad states it is raspberry color, but some other sites do cite red. It is other description of nearly no juice very grainy sugary insides of tomato- which I did not get also in mine that bother me ... because I am after sweet tomatoes LOL

Can do, Linda. I'm always maintaining a healthy cup of skepticism until I grow it out. I'll try to post some pictures of all my new ones this year. My frugal planting list grew a bit after my brother decided to help me with the garden. He wants to plant some Okra and some half runner beans. My price was to help with ALL the garden.

Over the years Andrey and Tania and Clara have told me which Russian seed sites are best when it comes to trueness of seeds and pictures on the seed packs.

And that's one of the reasons I liked that Estonian site that Clara linked me to b'c she knows many of the Russian companies and that site indicates which seed companies for which varieties, and as I recall, all were good.

Well I remember one I had called Pink Flamingo and info was all over the place and Shoe in NC was doing seed production for me and I asked him to send pictures to Tania, which he did, and then we went back and forth on it since there was differing info and pictures from several Russian seed companies.
