Hi David!

Nice photoes indeed and I can see now you have got almost a half of my collection from last year

But as we both know you somehow had mixed up with varieties I've sent you in our trade. That's why, for example, Wild Rose (Dikaya Roza) was red for you and not rosy-pink as it is...

We should be very accurate with all these seed packes and names in order to maintain rather big collections. Netheveless I hope you had been satified enough with this season's yeild

yes very much so...(keeping them correctly named)
i am very picky with my tomato plants..
many of my seeds as others have had problems...
we deffinately seperated quite a few seeds individually and found them not to be what they were supposed to be...
divided up 3 ways with 3 people with only 3-6 seeds per pack that i had bartered for and seperated to ensure proper names and types for each plant. so with 1 or 2 seeds of any type they are very hard to get mixed up..

not sure if you had alot of mixed seeds and alot of types mixed up but not what you said they were supposed to be but i did seperate them individually and also some of them must have been f1's or something so each tomato was individualized and marked as such...
(small, large, alot of seeds,no seeds,bs,pointed all in same plant)

by the way do you know of a tomato that came up as my not dvorstsovy in the photos..? (yellow blandish)

also a small yellow one with a pink or pinkish veins running thru it at the bottom only that resembled shape and type of worlds wonder but in no way the taste...

we have came up with some of your other varieties with out receiveing them from you...
and everyone gets a picture of exactly what type and size and variety of tomato those seeds came from...
(posted in seeds available for tradeing section)

any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated...
always looking for more of your varieties...

thx david dwlcrl

i was asking for comments on how the pics were labeled with the tomatoes if there was a better way then a ruler and a quarter and writing the name on the paper to see what each type was....

a 4 foot fence to cirlce 2ft around the plant and use sandwich bags with a peice of paper to label each one
sinking the base of the fence and also a 6 inch hole or level of the ground around the plant to be 6 inches lower then the main surface....

was everyone able to veiw them ok?

Great pictures, looks like you pretty much nailed the growing part of it, so many different varieties. Did you have two places to grow? That spot on the hill looks perfect.

The best picture, kicked back in a chair just watching ‘em grow.

the hill shot was a dog... (sh-it-zu) type of dog...
(just found what the link called it spicy meatball?..lol...)

the hill was all clay and didn't produce very well
i borrowed from a farmer to get a few more out...
http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...ejv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
another was at my moms house and that garden did very well...my moms area has alot of coal in it and also has somewhat of an under ground water surface on top of a hill... if you dig a hole- it likes to fill with water and it is deffinately way up on top of the hill....
http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...ajv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
and the third garden is my area out here that has a corrigated clear plastic roof that did awsome...
http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...wbv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
the upper half is screen and the lower half is plastic.
also did some buckets with plants out the top and bottom of the bucket....

David, it is rather difficult for me to identify some of your plants on photoes, because I was not able to shoot all my own varieties before this year when I have an access to digital photocamera.

But as for various shapes of that yellow plant - Yellow Giant (Zheltyi Gigant) that is true as well as for some other Russian heirlooms like Orange Bull's Heart (Bytch'e Serdtse Orangevoe). This can be instability or mutation or anything else in general...

Every year I grow only several F1s so that is not a problem at all. All seeds in my collection for seed trade are 100% OPs!

Original color of Dvortsovyi tomato is red (with a bit of orange hint sometimes) actually.

OK, I will add some Dvortsovyi seeds to that seeds I will send you while we will have our new trade

pictures.....

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...EJv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
this one is this years seeds...
i use roll towels like brown paper from a bath room roll like in a restroom...
they are fermented in dixie cups.. add enough water to them to fill the cup ande let set for 3-4 days depending on what i am doing and strain them and lay out on towels i write the name on and let dry for a day and then they almost just fall off that hard brown paper towel...
they get put into small envalopes with nothing...
just write the name on it and that aslo gives them more time to dry if needed...
and they are in abc order
so i label my bag and go right to those i am sending out....

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...iHv4xQp5Fd3Ig=

this is how i use my sandwich baggies to label them...
like for you i might use (tpl) meaning -the plant lady-
and then i use the tpl to organize them so i know right where to go to find where the seed i am wanting is at...

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...eqv4xQp5Fd3Ig=

this shows my cages covered enough to cover or hold the fence into the hole by covering up to the first square..

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...9fv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
this is what happens last...
if i get some seeds that dont grow the entire lot of dirt is strained and just layed on top of the dirt and sealed with plastic and a rubber band trying to get the type to grow...with a squirt of water enough to dampen the dirt

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...TJv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
this is my trays each shelf has 2 shop lights on it with 2 bulbs per light so 4 bulbs total..per shelf

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...byv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
this is my dirt tray and files and seed prepareing....

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...07v4xQp5Fd3Ig=
my trays i use have thick card board covered with aluminum foil folded up the side to create wals and cup to hold the water when i fill the trays... water lays thru to the bottom and not the tray - so it doesnt disturb the seeds.. these are my wife doing flowers the same way

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...mtv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
this is where i have more then 5 or 6 seeds of any particular type i use rows of seeds to start the growing process by createing a coat hanger to cut to lengths to keep plastic off of the plants and the lights are almost touching the plastic so it heats up and the condensation is formed to the plastic so i know i have enough water in there...

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...7Sv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
you can see my tooth picks standing up and taged with names and clear tape to hold name so that the name tag doesnt tear or soak up the water and fall apart...

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...RPv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
once the trays are 4 inches tall i trans plant to the 3 inch pots and sinking them half way down...

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...oSv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
my seed growing tray set up....
3 inch pots go into this 28 qt bin i got from walmart because 3 fit on a 4 ft shelf
the bin is where the water goes and not in the pots...

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...zQv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
if you look close you can see my 3 in pots...
http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...Fvv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
3 and 5 inch pots prepareing to get transplanted to...

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...Pcv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
i will say that just about every plant i had in there grew to about 12-14 ft tall

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...E0v4xQp5Fd3Ig=

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...nyv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
these 2 are my bottom of the bucket growing out the bottom...
and cherry yellow pear out the top....
must be watered every single day tho....
stays too dry...

http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dw...*Vv4xQp5Fd3Ig=
this was trial and error
the ground was just too hard...
it was a farmers land and it was all clay....too hard...

wont do that again....
