root growth of peppers

I have planted a couple sweet peppers 15cm deeper in the ground for better support.
Will the roots try to go down like they normally do or will they grow to the sides and even up, where the moisture is?

I've done the same thing. If your question is, will peppers root from from the buries stem" I'm not sure. I think some will in time. It may depend on species and variety. Mine didn't suffer any harm.

I usually plant my peppers less than 6" deep so the lower fruit don't wind up on the ground. I've planted tomatoes 18" deep though.

If your premise is to create more root growth it won't. Tomatoes grow more roots out from the stem by planting them deeper, but peppers do not.
