zucchini questions
First - the plants are going crazy - about 3 1/2 feet high. Usually the plants send out male flowers for at least several weeks before the females appear. This year the females are appearing with only a few male flower buds. This is both golden zucchini and the reg. dark green varieties. Both varieties have 5-6 females per plant.
Because of the incredible size could I trim the leaves on side of the patch - they bothering my tomatoes and given a choice - you know who wins! Piegirl |

Piegirl,
The branches and vines can be somewhat trained away from the tomatoes. I use some #9 galvanized tension wire to tame them. Those wire plant supports, with a little more bending, would also work. Just don't expect the plants to able to jump through flaming hps. Tormato |

Since this was already titled zucchini question I have a question...Is anyone hear growing Perfect Pick Hybrid from Jungs? I am confused by these plants. They sprouted fast, and then grew slow, and for the last week a maybe 8 inch tall plant that is full of flower bulbs has opened a flower everyday with no fruit! Looks like the all male flowers on other squash that you get first wave of but this plant is not supposed to have male flowers so I am confused.
If anyone has any info on this particular variety I would love to know what you know! Thanks Kelley |
