first leaves dying
I am a newby with cukes and have planted 3 varieties I started indoors before hardening off and transplanting outdoors in a raised bed with good soil. The thing I am noticing is that the first true leaves are mostly all dying fast, while the newer leaves seem to be thriving. Is this normal? Does the new growth feed on the first leaves? The mici hybrid do this less than the others, but still show similar signs. Anybody know whats happening to my cukes? And, could it have anything to do with being in the same bed as some tomatoes, albeit 3 feet away? I have used fish emulsion on them, so I believe they are not suffering from a lack of nitrogen!!
