Default how to make a tomato arbor

Buy some bamboo of different diameter and lengths.
put the big ones in the ground.
Use the next size down to make a frame, use the small size to fill the frame so the plants have something to grow on and be tied to...oh yeah, buy some twine.

I planted cherry tomatoes at the base of each upright.

attach to the frame as they grow.

bend over at the top

I planted:
snow white
black cherry
sun gold
red currant
yellow pear

Bully,

Thanks once again for the up-close, instructional pictures.

By the way, I had two little cuties like that once a long time ago.

Oh boy, are you in for a long, crazy ride my friend. But all you're gonna need is money, patience, a loaded shotgun, a mean dog, and a whole lotta love.

Hey Bully, do you prune any of those vines, or just let them grow?

Bully, very nice arbor--got me to thinking. I have this bamboo which is at least 30+ feet tall. I could build something ala Charles Wilbur who grew the 27 foot tall cherry tom.

This bamboo, I don't know what kind it is (wish I did), ranges from 7' to 11" in circumference. It got knocked about in hurricanes but the canes are still strong and straight just bent over a bit.

On the arbor I just let them grow...a little training and redirection was needed.

Nice pics Fark

Great setup. Looks sturdy and space effective. Make it a littlle bigger and wrap some plastic around it....

I was actually thinking of a set up somewhat like this in my garden without the boxes. Would my opalka, brandywine, yellow brandywine, and tula do the same thing?

Thanks.

Bully,

Very nice arbor.
I also noticed that your plants are very healthy. All your bottom leaves are nice and green.

Oh, yeh, that's right. I remember that arbor. I showed it to Mrs Grub and she looked at me with that don't-you-dare face.

And I think I remember that Gazebo shot. Many a beer consummed there, I bet.

Looking forward top this year's cherry pic
