Step ladder trellis
I just inherited an old 8 foot step ladder that I would like to use next year for *maybe* growing cucumbers. Any ideas on adding extra support for the vines, beyond the wooden steps, would be greatly appreciated. Could it also possibly be used for a Butternut vine or two?

Or nylon netting, or plastic fencing, or run strings of jute from bottom to top, etc. I'd just try to use what I could scrounge up. One year I trellised butternuts up plastic teepee poles, so what you propose is definitely doable.

I saw an old man use one upside down and opened up several years ago. He stabilized it with two metal fence posts.
He had a section of cattle panel wired to the inside of each leg. His cucumbers hung just right for picking. |
