Big Detroit Red Beet
Here's a beet that I grew, it weighed 13.2 lbs,. I know that this is really small compared to the giant sugar beets that people grow competitively, but I've never seen a regular Detroit beet this big, has anyone else grown something like this?

Impressive! Will be interested in hearing about a taste test. Larger beets can tend to get woody.
+1 on holding the largest ones to next year and saving seed. Even if they aren't tender, the seedlings might grow very quickly and be amazing earlier on in a season. Great project! |
