Are you ready for this?
I just watched a small clip on the morning business news ...
It showed a company that is developing a computer guided laser gun that shoots down mosquitoes, literally by the hundreds @ a time. CEO said they are looking at the world market of malaria carrying mosquitoes, but are working on agricultural use to protect fields from invasive insects. One great thing is that it uses wing beats and size to identify prior to killing, so it won't hurt beneficial insects in the field. A word of caution ... don't flap your arms like a mosquito around these experimental fields... LOL!

Worth,
That is the very thing I can see as as problem... you know some kid in lower kenya is going to be staring into the gun barrel so to speak when it zaps a mosquito. Yet the potential is astounding. We want one to put in the horse corral to zap flys. They didn't give a price, so I don't even want to consider one till it comes down.... LOL!

Sounds great but has anyone here been hit in the eye with a pointer laser
I have and it sucks. We all know how flies like to hang out around a horses eyes. Just a thought. Worth |

Google it and watch the video. Their detection grid thingie would prevent it from shooting the laser towards a horse or a child's eye.

I'm going to get my 14yo grandson (our resident electrical engineer) to build me a couple for the front porch and horse pasture to kill flies...
I'll post his schematic as soon as he finishes....
