Artichokes

Are artichokes rabbit resistant? I'm trying to figure out where to plant mine. Also, I know they like foggy, coastal CA. Should I give them a spot with filtered sun or just a few hours of sun or give them full sun?

I grew some really nice ones in zone 9 in hot humid Texas coast in full sun and the Temp was in high *90's . I plan on starting seed anyday now for setting out this spring as plants . I am going to be planting Imperial Star for 2012 . Do a google search tho as I am not sure what type of soil you have.I used lots of compost and fish guts that brought my acid soil down to neutral and they produced nice big artichokes that put the storebought to shame .
