f1 hybrids and share
After growing out the F1's this summer I will be offerring F2 seed to anybody interested. Mark (Frogsleap) did this earlier in the year and it was very cool to get involved with some of his crosses. I'd like to get a feeler for how many will want seed. Let me know if anything strikes your fancy.
Green Giant x Ambrosia f5 (op sungold type) Green Giant x Coyote Kosovo x Omar's Lebanese Aunt Ginny's Purple x Kosovo Japanese Black trifele x sungold (f1 is large, brown, robust, wonderful cherry) Polish Ellis x Matt's Wild Cherry Persimmon x Matt's Wild Cherry Cowlick's Brandwine x Boronia F6 (NOT SWEET ADELAIDE PURPLE) Sweet Adelaide Purple x Golden Queen Holler if you're interested *****EDIT******* I feel like a real dummy....I didn't consult my notes. There is no Cowlick's x Sweet Adelaide Purple. It was Boronia that donated pollen. Cowlick x Boronia F6 is correct... But If everyone is feeling the former, I'll gladly make that cross! *subscribes to thread* Your crosses sound rather interesting.
AGP x Kosovo sounds like it has a lot of potential since it's yummy x yummy. Cowlick's x Sweet Adelaide Purple is another one that caught my attention too. I might want seed for those two later on when you have it available. |

The Green Giant x Ambrosia F5 cross also intrigues me. What do you think can or will be found in the F2s in terms of size/color/flavor? Edit - any particular plans on what you'll be selecting for?

heirloomdaddy, any smaller-type plants in the variety your offering? Say 5' and under?
Although I don't have enough knowledge or experience on the varieties your offering, but this sounds neat and something I'd likely be interested in: Japanese Black trifele x sungold (f1 is large, brown, robust, wonderful cherry) Thanks for the offer! |

I'd love to try Persimmon x Matt's Wild Cherry and Aunt Ginny's Purple x Kosovo. Thanks for the opportunity. Mark's doing some great stuff at Frogsleap. I'm growing out his SpudG/BBB F2 and NARXF/Zebrahead F2. So far, very healthy regular leaf plants in bloom. They are about 2 ft. tall. I'm very anxious to see the fruit, and will report the progress on Tomatoville.

I would be interested in these when you have seed available. I, too, am growing out some of Frog's crosses. My plants are a bit further along and I have a lot of blooms going on. Anyhow, put me down for these four.
Kosovo x Omar's Lebanese Aunt Ginny's Purple x Kosovo.

I would be interested in:
Aunt Ginny's Purple x Kosovo Japanese Black Trifele x SunGold If you want I can send you some F2 or, hopefully, F3's of my Marianna's Peace x Neves Azorean Red cross in return. How does the Aunt Ginny's Purple x Kosovo F1 look? I have made some PL x wispy leaf and wispy leaf x PL crosses this year, and I am wondering how the foliage on the F1's will look like (I know they will be RL, but wispy leaf RL or normal RL?). |

Hey there Daddy, I'd love to plant out Cowlick's Brandwine x Sweet Adelaide Purple F1. It looks like a great dwarf cross. I'll send you a PM.

WOW! glad to get so many people interested. Too bad I'm a moron and incorrectly listed one cross:
Cowlick's x Sweet Adelaide Purple does not exist (it will soon!) I meant Cowlick's x Boronia f6 I'm going to save a lot of f2 seed, so all of those interested will be covered. Mark- I'll get you f1 seed as soon as its harvested. BTW, been meaning to update you regarding your crosses (in appropriate thread.) The two surviving F2's of yours are kicking ★★★! Will get photos soon. Stupice x Green Copia is about to ripen....PL AND STRIPES! it's also the only plant in a bed of about 8 to survive some very bad weather and bacterial problems. It is majorly prolific and pumping out medium sized globes like there is no tomorrow. I'm going to focus a lot of energy into that line next season. At least 10 plants. KBX x GZ is ripening to green AND gold interior and looks heterozygous for stripes. great taste. Suze- the crosses I'm most excited about are the ones you mentioned Ambrosia is the sweetest tomato I have ever tasted. It's phenomenal and produces massive amounts of fruit. Not quite as "fruity" tasting as sungold, but every bit as good with a winey, complex sweetness that is hard to describe. It's a fantastic variety. Between that and GG, I'm going to try to develop as many different lines as possible. I can't see how it would go wrong! I'm not going to look for anything in particular right away, just grow a lot of plants and select for flavor. Should see all different colors and all different shapes and sizes. F1 should be a smallish red globe I'm guessing...? |
