Ukraine?
I am growing this for the first time and it looks like a blockbuster of an eggplant. Since day one it has out-performed all others----plant is twice the size of all others, first to flower (WAY ahead of others), first to fruit etc. It is advertised as a large purple--looks rather like Black Beauty.
Has anyone else grown it? I haven't harvested the first eggplant so don't know about taste. |

Google translate calls this "Black Beauty". Did you know this? Is this maybe the same plant?

Looks like a Black Beauty indeed because it's common to use foreign translated variety names here in CIS and in Ukraine as well. Black Beauty or Chyornyi Krasavets or in Ukrainian as you mentioned.

Sorry for the late to answer----just got back from the Rockies. I ate the first one without photographing it. In fact, contrary to the picture in the catalog, the fruit is 1/2 the size of Black Beauty and rather round. So far, that is the only fruit I have so I don't know if it is just because the first fruit is smaller than subsequent ones will be........??
