Pole Beans
I have not grown string beans except like Kentucky Wonder and Yellow wax bean an once a purple - would like some suggestions on beans - not dry - nor bush type - but pole type or runner (is that right) and a good site that sells them
just thinking of steaming beans with bacon salt pepper and maybe some baby potatoes got me going Thanks Dennis |

Hi, Dennis! I found Fortex the best for taste and it can be picked small (considered at filet bean, I believe) or left to grow to 11" or so & still tastes great. Got mine from Johnny's Selected Seeds, but lots of places carry it now, so you may be able to get a better price. I can send you some to try depending on how many you'd need.

I second Fortex, plus Garaffal Oro and Wonder of Venice.

I agree with Stephen. I grew Appalachee White !/2 Runners for years they are great fresh or canned. Easy to grow very productive. I lost my seed 5 years ago. Rats eat them. I`ve been unable to get true App. white 1/2 runners. I`ve tried every year, but I have not found the real App. bean Stephen if they are the real APP. I`d LOVE to have 20 to 30 just to get my seed started this year. will pay or trade (have 25 varieties of Heirloom tomatoes) Bill

Thanks Dennis BUT I want to send a long list of toms, the list is on my computer and I can send the list by e-mail w/o having to type it over again. By sending it as an attchment. I do not know how to send the list on a P.M. without typing it each time I want to send it. Sorry I`m a dummy on computer. (other things Too) Bill
