Orkado F1 is a tomato from Moravoseed. It has no resistance to late blight.

Snuggle, one should never accuse another person of lying.Period
I've been to the Moravoseed site before, just went again, and asked for translation from Czech to English and still couldn't find the variety you mentioned. But I didn't spend a lot of time there. Could you please link to the page, in English, of that variety for it might help to see if it specifies LB tolerance and it's entirely possible that Vladimir has grown it himself and found no tolerance to LB. I will take a snapshot of their claim they have on their package tomorrow, right now its almost 1 am. See your problem, Carolyn, is you are thinking like an American - these eastern European seed companies won't respond to you, at least none of the ones I have ever asked questions to. Its a different mindstate over here. One of the reasons I signed up to this site back in 2012, along with wanting to view photos. But I'm leaning towards Vlad's claim right now because alot of them are so shady I'd rather order my European seeds from the US then do business with them. Snuggle-You are out of line. Don't lecture Carolyn, and don't imply that one of the other members is lying.

As I said, i'm not saying vlad is lying, but its probably the seed company. If A does not = B, than B does not equal A.
Lets find this out the right way....... 20150403_105016.jpg Last edited by mdvpc; April 3, 2015 at 07:40 AM. Reason: Improper comment from member |

I have Orkado F1 seeds from Thompson & Morgan, a generally well respected British seed company, and the packaging makes no mention of any resistance or tolerance to late blight. It says it is good for growing outdoors in a British (ie cool and/or wet) climate, but absolutely no mention of Phytopthora infestans.

Another interesting factoid is the seeds are slightly smaller, darker and more "tear drop shaped" than normal.
They almost look like an f2 seed from a pimpinilofolium x lycopersicon cross. I only spend a few bucks to investigate this claim so far but I am not wanting to spend more time on it for the rest of the season when I have other work to do. Free seeds, anyone? Anyway, I think you see what I mean, about the moral turpitude around here, Carolyn. They have no issue marketing LB resistance to us here, but where there are tougher QA regulations they don't make this claim. I am trying to get to the bottom of this and am doing it for the consumer so if I am to be censored so be it, but it won't make the truth go away. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "There is not a truth in the world that I would want unknown," and as a patriot of America I will try to carry on this tradition, in the face of intolerance and other arbitrary prejudices. Plus, I would think most of my fellow tomato-growers around here would want to see a lie from a seed company exposed. Last edited by snugglekitten; April 3, 2015 at 12:43 PM. |

As the other moderators have said, that comment is way out of line. If you draw my attention to yourself again in this manner, it will be for the last time.

If you have no interest in finding out the truth but want to be politically correct, than there are other gardening forums that deserve respect but not here. The sad thing is that a seed company is making possibly false claims and you are whining about me calling them out on it. Just ban me if you want to act like a punk. Word will get around. |
