Yes, it is. And it is quite common variety here in CIS.

Tatiana was the "winner" in this hunt for the improved version of Sibirskiy Skorospelyi. I did send her some seed from 5 varieties from Tom Wagner's new releases. This offer is now closed.

Nikola surely is an improved version of Sibirskiy Skorospelyi. It did quite well here in lower Michigan. I grew SS beside it and it was just a bit better in all categories than SS. The taste was a bit better, but production was about the same but above average in regards to other varieties.
I do not think it will replace SS though as SS is just an overall all-around very good variety with above average production. I will grow more of each in 2013. |
