Seed germinating time for zone 6 ?

Been 20+ years since I started from seed & looking for a suggested timeframe for starting my seeds. I will be growing them under fluorescent's in my basement once they germinate till it warms up outside. I'm in zone 6 and typically plant store bought plants around late April or early May. I'm thinking I'm getting close but don't want to jump the gun nor be late either. I know they are many variables but any help or thoughts would be much appreciated.

My gardening friend in Kentucky has her peppers and cole crops started and will do the tomatoes in about 1 week.

Zone 7

Sowing seeds for main crop next weekend mostly because this spring looks to be early and I am growing in bags in a high tunnel.

Farmers around here like planting 6-week old starts every 7-10 days starting April 21 (which they lose some years) and stop in early June. Of course, they are going into black plastic mulched rows which warm up faster.

If I only was planting one crop in the ground, no black plastic or other covers/contraptions/in containers, I'd sow six weeks back from May 5-10th.

Getting them in early with no soil warmth is no advantage to me.

My garden is in the NC mountains zone 6 and I start seed around March 20th for transplant first ten days of May depending on weather forecasts. Good Luck!
