My lil Seed starting/Seedling setup
My lil Setup..
I actually have to do a few more transplants. I have a two bulb hydro farm light up top for the covered seed starter tray and a four bulb setup underneath for secondary growth till they go in the outside hydro tables or the ground. I really need to build a three or four shelf system, I've been looking into LED lights and they seem pretty affordable. Does anyone have any experience with LED's and Seedlings? -Mus |

I just started using some 4000K LED lights from Costco. They were a great buy and are brighter than my fluorescents so I have no complaint, they have been fine for lettuce and other veggie seedlings so far. Although they are 40 watts/ 4000 lumens rated, I started to wonder about light penetration for bigger vegetables (or even my tomato seedlings as they get bigger... ) I had some browning on the leaf edges as things got larger, and not sure what the cause but probably has nothing to do with the lights. Seems to have cleared up with extra ferts and some mg. I still have a couple of fluorescents in action as well, so I guess I'll keep comparing the two for awhile.
