Default George Detsikas Italian Red

My first Ripe George D.! Well ripe enough for me to go ahead and take it out of the community garden where it was getting alot of attention and I was worried for it's future .

So I went ahead and snipped it yesterday to be sure that I was the one that gets to enjoy my first George. I'm posting a couple of the photos that are of different age to show some of it's progression. I have yet to slice it and taste it but I'll post those photos soon!

Needless to say I'm anxious to taste it!

Al

Looks like a nice big one. Guess you'll have to be patient a few more days...

The last 2 pics I shared above were from yesterday evening, already today the tomato is much more ripened!? All that I did was pick the fruit and leave it on my counter overnight....

I ate my first one Tuesday. My first big tomato. It was really good with some salt.

I'm still yearning for my first tomato. I think GDIR is on my grow list for next year.

After Italy, they were grown in Canada for many years, so it seems they work well in that climate.

My plant is so huge and now has too many tomatoes and blossoms to count! It's like THIS all over the plant:
GeorgeD-2.jpg

It's been in ground now for 48 days and it just keeps setting fruit. The largest is about 3" across. The plant is so dense and sturdy and healthy!

This was taken two days ago. Today or tomorrow, it will be above its 6' cage.

I can't wait to try it.

Robin, I'm not able to see your pics, did you click the little yellow picture icon when you posted them?

Am I the only one that can't see the pics?

Al, I did what I always do. I don't know what the problem is... I make my images smaller in PhotoShop and then I always use the paperclip tool at the top. I've never had anybody tell me they can't see my images.
