Default Producing in the Heat & F2s

There are a few tomato plants that I have left in-ground just to see if they will produce tomatoes in the heat of summer. The temperatures here are highs near 100F and lows around 80F. The ones still producing in our garden are:

Sungold F1
Yellow Riesentraube
Red Ambrosia
Amethyst Cream
Valencia
Juliet F1
Matt's Wild Cherry
Jan's - Seems to have a long shelf life.

I left others in-ground, but the plants are not producing and are looking bad.

F2s:

I want to experience how Sungold F2 and Juliet F2 grow, taste, produce, etc.. So far, they are growing a lot faster than the OPs started the same day back in mid June.

I have some F2 crosses and some OP growing in seed cells that were planted July 1. Again, the F2s are growing faster - they are ready to be transplanted into solo cups today. The OP are growing slower and need more time in the cells.

This does make me even more curious about F2s.

That's interesting, Robert. Because I wasn't that great of a gardener when I started, I noticed what seemed like more vigor in the hybrids. I didn't do a side by side comparison like you did, though. I have mostly hybrids growing this year, but next year I have to try some of the heirlooms I'm reading about here every day!

I'm still harvesting Tommy Toe, Creole, Mule Team, Mortgage Lifter, and a few Indian Stripe, but production has really slowed down. Our temps are about the same Robert.

I saved the Juliet F2 seeds from the spring F1 crop. I still have 10 seeds if you would like them OzoneNY.

Thank you but I just order some F1 for next year and I have too many to choose from for next season as it is. But I will be curious to see what results you get from this Juliet F2. Please keep us posted
