15th Annual Heirloom Tomato Celebration
Join the Heirloom Seed Sanctuary in celebrating heirloom tomatoes. All are welcome to this free celebration! There will be an heirloom tomato tasting, a workshop and a garden tour! I will go, even though I was a bit disappointed with the taste of most of the 30 varieties that they had last year . Perhaps they used a lot of unripe tomatoes or maybe it's because they do not amend the soil in any way..... I discovered Blondekopfchen there though, and we live quite closeby, so it's still worthwhile! Linda |

This morning I went to the tomato-tasting where there were 33 varieties to sample.
Apparently, the weather hasn’t been great, and many of the tomatoes weren’t ripe enough, which always makes it difficult to judge. However, I tried to pick the ripest pieces, and found a few that weren’t half bad: Cherokee Purple of course! Polish, Gregori’s Altai, and even NZ Pink Pear. Linda |
