I just bought one at Ace Hardware, which is having a sale on it until the end of the month. ($9.99 instead of 19.99) A unit in the house, and a sensor in the greenhouse. Battery driven. Look here:

Well, I went to Ace and wouldn't you know it, they were sold out.. Not even any stock in the warehouse and no one in the area had them either. I did manage to get them to issue me a rain check, but told me they had no idea when they would be back in stock.

What is the range on this item sold by Ace? I couldn't see it in the link. It's an issue for me, as the sensor would be quite a distance from the monitor. Thanks!

I was wondering that myself and hoped to see what the package had, but didn't get a chance, I put 3 of them on a raincheck, but that dosn't mean I have to buy them if the range is only a few feet. I need a range of about 100 feet (or more), as my greenhouses are not all that far....

I have this because I need some type of sound (prefer the ocean) to fall asleep. I'm a light sleeper so everything wakes me up. Bed Bath and Beyond always have 20% off coupons available too.

Amazon seems to have a lot to choose from.

The Ace one says its range is up to 100', but it only does 80' for me. I have a rain check for another, too.

Hmm. 100' wouldn't do it for me. I currently use one (but it doesn't have an alarm) that has a 200' range and even so I have to position it carefully to get a reading. Thanks for the info.

Hey Sherry, I use this one.. http://minderresearch.com/catalog/i32.html

It has saved my butt many times already this winter. I sometimes try to stretch the time between burn cycles on the barrel stoves that heat my GH's. This has an alarm that wakes me up if I mis-calculate. Its my security blanket, so to speak.

Bobby -- Thanks for the link. That looks like a good one and well worth the price. With the one I have now (no alarm) I have to sleep with one eye open so I can watch the temp! I think I need one of these.

You'll be happy to know that you didn't want the one from Ace that I mentioned at the top of the thread. Not working out for me at all. I'll be returning it tomorrow. Remote keeps disappearing from the base. Bah, humbug!
