Attention Seed Vendors - Vendor listings for Tatiana's TOMATObase

Dear Vendors,

It is that time again when many folks are checking Tatiana's TOMATObase for seed availability from different vendors.

When your 2014 list is ready, please submit it to me, so we can import it into Tatiana's TOMATObase.

To make my job easier, please follow these rules:

1. Tomato variety names should be verified against TOMATObase.

If the name does not match exactly (yes, everything is case-sensitive), it will fail to import. Last year, with help of Tville members, we had compiled the master vendor spreadsheet with over 2700 varieties. Over 300 varieties failed to import due to spelling errors, alternative spellings, non-matching lowercase and uppercase letters, or translated names. It took me many long hours to fix the issues manually.

Note: It is OK if variety does not exist at TOMATObase. In this case I will have to create the new pages for all the new ones, when I have more time.

2. Please use plain text format, listing varieties as follows:

Anna Russian|new
1884|x
Aurora|new
...

'new' means new variety for 2014
x - means you have it (which applies to all your available varieties, except the new ones that are marked with 'new')

No formatting or white spaces before or after names, please.

3. Last but not least, please send your listings via email as 2014<vendor name>.txt file attachment. Please do not use PM, and do not insert the list into the body of the email.

4. If you offer peppers, please send me your pepper list in a separate file. Same rules apply.

3 vendors already submitted the listings for 2014, so I will be doing the import this weekend.

I hope we can do the 2nd import in mid-December, and the last import in mid-January, so please plan to submit your listings accordingly, if you care to participate.

P.S. If you are introducing a new variety (i.e., newly developed and released, or newly 'discovered' old heirloom) that does not exist at Tatiana's TOMATObase yet, please consider sending me a history, if available. That will help a lot when creating new articles.

We have 2 new vendors participating - Ohio Heirloom Seeds (Thank you Mike!) and Diane's Flower Seeds (thank you Diane!).

So I have listings for Ohio Heirloom Seeds, Diane's Flower Seeds, and Tomatofest.

I also have Gleckler's listing from the last year, which looks like will be the same for this year, as they are not offering any new varieties.

We imported listings for Pinetree Garden Seeds, TomatoFest, Ohio Heirloom Seeds, Diane's Flower Seeds, Tatiana's TOMATObase, and Wild Boar Farms.

Total 1465 varieties (not bad for just 6 vendors!). All corresponding articles have been updated for 2014 seed availability.

Waiting for other vendors to submit their listings. The next import will be around Dec 19.

I'm way behind on things this year. I'll get something to you in about 2 weeks. I still need to do germination tests on about 1/2 of my older seed and will take out varieties that we don't have good seed.

Email me the list when ready. I will email you your list from the previous year, so you can just add the new ones and cross out the ones that you will not offer for 2014.
