Hi Craig!

I'll be there, as well as my MIL, her husband, and my niece and nephew (10 and 12 year-old kids)

Is there anything we should bring...besides the obvious, our tomatoes

Hey folks,

I don’t know if I’ll have much to bring in the way of tomatoes , everything is way behind this year , but Deborah and I will be there to sample yours.

I have the vacation time approved, to come up. I have a few tomatoes to bring. I believe IMISSCOLO wants me to bring some of hers.

I'm planning on going and bringing a friend. I don't know what tomatoes I will have to bring. Mine haven't done all that well this year. It just depends on how the timing works out. Mine tend to come in waves. At times I have more than I know what to do with, then at times almost none.

When you say Umstead Park, I assume you mean the park listed as William B. Umstead State Park?

Yep that's the one!

Check out the links on tomatopalooza.org for detailed
directions.

Basically enter the park at the Hwy 70 entrance.
Drive all the way to the end of the road.
Park.
Large shelter is about 1200 ft through the woods on
the left(east) side of the parking lot.
Although they're not permitted... look for the tomato signs.

Thanks so much for the info. I didn't know Tomatoapalooza had its own website. Cool!

Lee, I will probably have a good list by Thursday and will post it. Some earlies are already pulled so will not make it there - Sophies Choice, Taxi, Kimberly and New Big Dwarf are done.

I am hoping that most of the dwarf F1s will be represented - a few are very iffy (Dopey, Bashful primarily).

the big garden is ripening very, very little. Glad you had the alternate source! any word on progress from the brandyannatad garden?

I will try to bring what little I have coming in. 2006 has thus far been one of my worst years for gardening, especially as far as tomatoes are concerned. I'm sure that I am not alone in this boat, with 3 major hail storms and several 3"+ soaking rains with winds over 50mph the weather has taken it's toll. This has also been my worst year ever for early blight. Of the 142 varieties that I planted nearly all of them have less than 25% of their leaf cover remaining, and to top it off I came in from work on Monday to find over 2 dozen horn worms on various plants. They aren't to hard to spot when they are about the only thing remaining on a skeleton of a plant. With the over abundance of rain, most of what I have coming in is splitting pretty bad, they taste good, they just aren't the most eye appealing. I'm hoping to being a few Cherokee Purples, a few Big Orange should be ripe by Saturday, perhaps some Japanese Trifele Blacks, and I may have a cluster of Spoons, I'll just have to wait and see since they are calling for 30% chance of scattered thunder storms thru Sunday.
I assume it will be OK to bring some seeds to trade (although I am sure most in attendance will have most of the varieties that I have) ?

Lee, I will be bringing 3 Box Car Willies, 3 Aunt Ruby's GG, and a cupful or two of Matt's Wild Cherry.

I wish I had more to share. Some of my plants have pooped out from the heat; others put out lots of fruit...last week and the week before. Now I'm kind of in-between modest summer and fall harvests and those few are all I can manage.

My in laws who live in Raleigh are growing out about 10 plants of 8 different varieties that I gave them, though. They are a few weeks behind me, harvest-wise, so I'm hoping they have some to bring too (forgot to ask my MIL when we spoke this morning.)

Can't wait to see you all and taste tomatoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo hoo...come on Saturday!!!!
