Container and diseases.

Hi all, 1st post here.

My question is about diseases from cluttering plants. I have limited space and want to put two plants per 30 gallon container. http://www.rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid...d=HPProd110011

It will not rain here and there is hardly any humidity. When i water them the leaves will not get wet. Can you get diseases from the two plants being to close to each other? Lack of air flow or something like that?

I think you would be better off putting one plant in each container as you would be pushing it as far as ROOM for roots with two in one.
Would the maters be determinate or indeterminate? ‘It will make a difference.
(On room to grow.)
As for disease and lack of space you may have to put caution to the wind.
You shouldn’t have to worry about much and if you see any affected foliage just cut it out at the first sign of trouble and destroy it appropriately. (TRASH)
What the heck it’s your tomatoes give it a go, you wont know till you try.
You can always put a fan on the things for airflow.
I don’t know the exact details of your situation.
Out side, inside, small patio?

I agree. Just wondered if there was a disease from cluttering.

I grew 4 indeterminate plants in four seperate 7.5 gallon containers last year and had no issues, i think many people over do it with the size of their containers. All of my plants produced very well for a long time. Had fresh picked tomato's on thanksgiving. All the plants were 5 foot tall and produced for 3 months. Skin got thicker though, taste was the same.

This year i'm going for 12 plants in the 6 bigger containers. Wish me luck.
