I have a few boxes. All varieties tend to do well. The indeterminate type will need a strong trellis. The aluminum trellis kits made for them are OK for determinates but indeterminates will overgrow it. 2 plants per box. As the plants get bigger you will have to water more- at least once a day or even twice. Automatic watering system is nice.

I grow almost exclusively in Earthboxes because I've had such great success with them. Everything I've grown has done well.
You have to be careful with the sprawling varieties. Last year I grew Sungold in an Earthbox and by the end of the season I was picking Sungold tomatoes 3 boxes over from where they were planted. I'm too lazy to keep up with picking suckers. There's a thread at the Earthbox website about using pea fences for support. I'm going to try them this year and see how well they work. Irv |

I too grow tomatoes in Earthboxes. Most do very well. As mentioned the growth can get away from you. when I have hot dry windy spells and the plants are large and full of fruit I sometimes need to water twice daily.
