Leafy Tomato Sauce!!!???
Has anyone tried this?
Tomato leaves allegedly give the sauce a fresher flavor. As much as I love the taste of a good tomato, I don't care at all for the smell of the plants and would never consider eating one!

I posted before reading the 2nd article, DDF, are you seriously considering eating tomato leaves???
"Many handbooks of poisonous plants cite the tomato plant for killing livestock and sickening people. According to the California Poison Control System’s “Poisoning and Drug Overdose,” edited by Kent R. Olson (McGraw-Hill, 2006), the tomato toxin is solanine, one of two alkaloids that make greened potatoes toxic. High doses of solanine kill animals and cause nausea, hallucinations and death in humans." Please reconsider!

As the moderator here, I would not encourage anyone to try eating tomato leaves! Why do such a thing when we have such wonderful fruit to eat? <grin> Seriously, don't be the guinea pig to debunk or verify whether or not they are poisonous, k? (icky, icky)

I could not help but to research a bit about this, after reading the first article. Seems the same "poisons" are also in green tomatoes. Lord knows I have eaten enough green tomatoes and not died, so I think I must be safe.

You also may have some tolerances built up for it. My family eats poke weed. I have only ever eaten it twice and thought I was going to DIE!!! both times. It is also listed as a poisonous plant. Also green tomatoes I doubt have the same concentrations as as the leaves.
Anyways, as stated above by others I too would advise against using any parts of a tomato plant except the actual fruit.
