What is your biggest tomato in 2013?

Most of us are not entering any competition to grow the biggest tomato, nevertheless, we all like to brag about our biggest tomato of the season. So, what is yours? Please give the name of the variety, post pictures if you have them and just brag about it. We all want to know.

Nothing to brag about just yet, but I picked up a new variety this spring called pink giant. I'm hopeful its true to its name!

I typically get only one biggie per year, and I believe the 2013 specimen was picked yesterday - a one and a half pound Indiana Red. I already posted the picture in another thread, but what the heck - here it is again:



The small one in front of it is a Casino Chip. I did nothing special to cause this, just treated it like all my other tomatoes, so all the credit belongs to the plant! It's a few days away from ripe and I've never grown Indiana Red before. I'm hoping it doesn't end up being a spitter! The plant is still doing well and has a handful of other tomatoes on it that look to be close to a pound. In fact, this was one of three that grew on a single truss and I'm amazed the weight of them didn't rip it off the stem.

Can't wait to see everyone else's!

4.00 pounds exactly from a Mega Marv plant.

I have others currently growing that demand this title.

Well, I'm not going to brag about this ugly thing because it just happened...and I'd have rather had two or three 'normal' ones because this one is likely to rot before it ripens evenly. The season is still early for me but it looks like it's going to be the largest one from my garden this year. It's a 2 lb. 6.6 oz. Work Release Paste.

So far I have two varieties tied for first place! Both weighed in at 1.2 oz. One was a Barlow Jap, and the other was a Greek Domata.

Father'sDaughter, I have seeing few threads with really big tomatoes, including yours. I just thought they all should be together on one thread. That is where I got my idea. Thank you for posting.

KathyDC, how is the taste of your Barlow Jap?

Kathy- yeah, it is a bit scary. Funny that another paste/heart-type, Mom's Heart, has a fruit that formed in the same way, although it's a little smaller at 2 lbs. 2.6 oz. I posted a pic below.

Ella- I've grown WRP for 2 years now and I love the taste so I'm hoping it'll be the same this year.

oh I love this thread! some big uglies and a couple of big beauties.
We are hardly famous for growing large tomatoes up here but my dad and a few friends and I are having a little friendly competition for who can grow the heaviest tomato this year. (looks don't count)
so far my contender (strangely) is a Berkeley tie dye pink growing on a large plant in a big pot on my deck.. I call it Godzilla. It is still growing so I will let you know the final weight in the future. He is catfaced and ugly but a nice big one for a northern garden. I don't prune or do anything different this is just a lucky one that grew from a megabloom.
The big black tomato in my avatar is a 23 oz Cherokee purple from last year, also from a megabloom. I had never weighed tomatoes before last season but I am pretty sure that one is the largest I have ever grown. I am hoping to beat it with my BTDP "Godzilla" this year.

Hey Kath,
Somebody needs to get the Ugly Tomato Contest up and running, you've got two contenders there!

I already posted this one in another thread, but here it is again. Malakhitovaya Shkatulka (Malachite Box) from a megabloom. 18.7 oz. Probably the largest I'll get, but maybe not. The plant is going to be topped today. It's over 7' tall! I don't generally try to grow large fruited tomatoes. As long as it tastes great I don't care what color or size it is... and usually I can't pull off a season long enough to grow late season maters. This year might be an exception, I took a chance and planted several new-to-me late season varieties just to see what would happen. I've been fortunate so far and have already picked some Ananas Noir and Fish Lake Oxheart and both plants are covered in tiny tomatoes, (some of which are megablooms)!

Correction;

The tomato that read 4.00 LBS on my scale read 4.01 LBS on a state calibrated and certified scale where I took it to have it officially weighed.

I'm changing my weight from 4.00 to 4.01 LBS.

No need to change it, Ella- I think it's a great idea to get all the biggies on one thread and others that have already put their pics in other threads don't seem to mind reposting here.
