While there are many great retailers, many part of this site, if you're looking for largest selection I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone with more. Delectation of Tomatoes. And a friendly and knowledgeable owner as well!

As Carol states on her site, she is a one-person seed company. If you need your seeds immediately, you may want to try someplace else. I've ordered from her several times and have never been disappointed.

Not sure how she is legally selling seed ... her website talks about testing done years prior... Germ tests need to be current to sell legally (is she just getting away with ignoring the laws?)

First off, I too think Carol is in compliance. Second she does state that she is having computer issues. And third, I seriously doubt whether she would try to get away with ignoring the laws. I have ordered from Carol several times and always been very pleased. Her seeds germinate very well and she is most generous.

I agree. I look at their catalog many times a year. The seeds Worth sent me were from 2007 TGS, and they still have a high germination rate.

I have bought one variety of tomato seeds from one online/catalog site. I bought some Suncherry Extra Sweet F1 seeds from Kitazawa...which has less than one catalog page of tomato varieties - I ordered those because our son was buying other stuff from there.

Before I joined Tomatoville, I had no clue about how to grow tomato plants from seeds. Since joining, you all have made sure I have enough tomato seed varieties to grow for the next 30 years or so.

Her site says 0.1 gram (about 25-40).

I do have 2 very accurate digital gram scales. And while I say 0.1 gm, I usually over pack to at least 0.15 gm. Seed count varies as some varieties have large seeds and some quite small. At this time of the year (Dec - March) I'm usually able to get orders out in a couple of days. During my growing season tho, it can take a couple of weeks if I'm busy and too tired to do seeds too.

As far as germination tests go, NO I haven't tested as often as I should. EVERYTHING was retested last year and was as listed on the site. I believe the Fed law says something like once / year, so I'm only about a month behind. The year they were grown is also listed which is something you don't get at most other sites. But I use these seeds myself so I do know if they aren't performing as they should.

BTW, Wisconsin doesn't have seed laws like Pa does. Frankly I think those are some "protect Burpee" type laws.

Number of varieties is what's being asked for but for me even more important would be seed age, germination results and free of pathogens.

Saying it another way, seed quality.

And I do agree with some of the above suggestions, but not all.
