Tomato Plant Pics
I'm a ways off from tomatoes so nothing too exciting, but I figure who else can I show foliage pics of but you all .
Here's a shot of some plants from a few days ago. Roughwood Golden Tiger is really odd looking. And here's Silvery Fir Tree. Remy

Remy: have you grown Silvery Fir Tree before? If so, what is your opinion? I am growing it for the first time and have it in a flower garden because of the foliage.

Ami,
Thanks! It is a rain gauge. It rained real heavy the day before so that is why you see the blue. Because of that rain, the plants are much large now. When I checked on them this evening, the one in the right front is up to the next ring on the cage! Barbee, It won't be soon enough! I have lettuce and no tomatoes of course so I bought Kumatoes at work today. I haven't tried them yet. It was like a tube of 5 tomatoes for $3.49. I hope I'm not too disappointed. Rob, I was just talking about you at work yesterday to Jan. I'm glad she's back working, but I can tell she's still in pain. about the rain! I'm sorry to tell you I've no control over it. KYGreg, I've grown them in the flower beds before too. This year I have them in pots. They are very good little growers and makes tons of fruit. They are early producers too. The toms are acidic tasting, but I still like them. Oh, they are juicy too. Remy

George,
They are the Kumatoes! I ate one last night. It was ok. Texture was good for a store tomato, not all mealy. The flavor was sweet and mild. If the flavor was bit more pronounced, I would of liked it better. The clamshell container full of small heirloom tomatoes is better when they are in stock. Remy

The leaves on Roughwood Golden Tiger look really cool and I had to google it, because I have not heard about this variety before. I could not find a picture of ripe fruit, but the description said that it is striped plum. I hope you'll post more photos, when you have fruit.
The leaves look like it could be frost hardy.

Remy,
Roughwood Golden Tiger seems uber-interesting - are you going to offer it on Sample Seeds? I'm there if you are! |

Svalli,
"The leaves look like it could be frost hardy" Now that would be something! I've never seen a tomato with such floppy furry foliage though. Cleo, It is a striped plum, very pretty. I planted them, because when I tasted a tomato the party last fall, I was surprised. It actually tastes good! I do plan on offering it. I hate to say anything since it is like a curse to me when I do, like a platoon of hornworms will come in and devour those plants only because they prefer fur. Remy

Remy, what is the shape of your Kumatoes? I just dug mine up. It was dying of something. Was about 30" tall and 4 green tomatoes, one was just trying to turn so I picked it; it is not round like I thought, more beefsteak shaped.

KYGreg,
They are small globes, definitely not beefsteak like. Aninocentangel, Thanks for the pic. Reinhard has grown a lot of tomatoes and has a great site. Remy

I'd heard of Reinhard, but didn't know he had a site until I ran across it looking for more info on the fuzzy tomatoes. I lost at least an hour there last night, and plan on losing several more after the kids go to bed What can I say, I'm a cheap date. Enjay PS how fuzzy are those tomatoes? like a peach, or is the fuzz more delicate?
