I love all the gardens in theses pics.I live here in S Florida 1mile east of the Everglades and 5 miles from the beginning of the Keys and large determinates are not one that grows well for me.I grow a lot of cherrys.I do grow some blacks with good success but I have been told and do practice taking off the smaller emerging maters from the bunches of the ones that are almost ready for harvest.I find these never amount to anything by the time the plant meets its demise.Do all the "northern"gardners leave these smaller maters and even blooms on for the chance they might emerge or pull them thinking they sap the growth of thier cousins or do they grow out? Also if you leave the babys on and pull the larger will the others fill in right away or are they doomed.

Everything's coming along nicely, Julia! Wow- you must be able to watch that pumpkin grow!

We ate our first sweet corn tonight- Ambrosia. What kind are you growing?

Yes!! The pumpkin is growing extremely fast.
Your already eating sweet corn? WOW!

I've planted Burpee's Illini Extra Sweet Hybrid.

It's received excellent reviews so we shall see!!

Thanks Kath!

I've never tried that one- let me know how it does/tastes, ok?

I started the corn a couple weeks early inside and transplanted as early as I thought was safe, trying not to disturb the roots. It worked ok but the plants were bit stunted- we've grown this variety many times before and the stalks are shorter than normal and the ears lower to the ground. The ears formed normally, though, and tasted fantastic!

Julia, if you hit the 500 lb mark, i think you should carve it, climb inside and you can be "one" with the Jack O Lantern! (and scare the pants off the kids who come to your door when you pop out of the pumpkin!) lol

Seriously, your tomatoes look fabulous and what a great fruitset on that White Queen! Awesome! corn looks great too, wish I had the room for some here.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Thank you Stonysoilseeds.

Lakelady, that's a great idea!!

I can see it now. Mom of small child tells me that I caused her child to pee his pants.

Excellent!!
