Have those too, :) and a bunch more besides.
Getting a bit behind with photos. Doing major renos and leaving for Edmonton Sunday for a few days too. Where does the time go? Here are a couple of really big fruits of true colours. They can get a good size :) KarenO Watch the Karma thread for more pics coming soon |
You DO like to torment me so. Have a good trip and be careful.

KarenO, that is a huge heart. Excellent job. Congratulations.
In all your crosses you selected multiple interesting varieties. It must be enormous amount of work. And they are PL too. You Go Girl! |

Karen,
I know that you started with Ludmilla's Pink Heart X Captain Lucky and Delicious X Captain Lucky. Are most of your True North Tomatoes descended from LPH or Del? Chris |
These are all loh x cl.
I have not gone beyond F2 with the delicious crosses because I didn't have room and could not focus on all of them properly. There are some fabulous beefsteaks in the delicious cross f2's. Some are very unique and with wonderful flavours. Now that these are approaching stable I will start work on the next group soon. I intend to honour my late father with the naming of those. KarenO |
Good luck with the naming Karen!!;)

When i made the cross I was imagining a fancy potato leaf heart. One that would be different than anything else out there. I really didn't think this was possible.
True colours F5. Potato leaf clear epi green and pink and yellow hearts. Delicious sweet rich flavour. One more season and Mission accomplished with F6 seed (what little there us if it :)) saved. I will do a big grow out and make stable F7 seed available next year. :) KarenO |
Wow, that is a gorgeous tomato!!! I have never seen a color combination quite like that. Kudos to you!!
|
True colors is gorgeous and unique. You can really see the Captain Lucky heritage too. Congratulations on this very very special tomato, you have a lot to be proud of.
|
How great to see these colors in a large heart! I am so impressed with your keeping us informed along the way about the development and progress and how quickly you will be getting them to F7. That's real dedication to a goal!

Beautiful work Karen! Do you grown them in the greenhouse or in the garden? It seems that Nanaimo grows earlier tomatoes than Vancouver. Likely much better than Edmonton. Nice move for you! I only have a few big ones coloring up out of nearly 100 plants.
|
They are all outdoors , in beds and one in a pot. I don't have a greenhouse anymore. Seed planted March 21, transplanted about may 20. Same as I used to do even in Edmonton. These are pretty consistently "early" for large tomatoes with the first ones ripe about 72 days and peaking about now. I had no new fruits set during all that heat though but that's not surprising. They seem to have done well for me in both places, if anything better in Edmonton without the heat and drought
