Dwarf Besser from Fusion

Fusion sent me a few seed of a variety he lists that is called dwarf besser. I am growing it out for him so that he can have fresh seed to germinate for the plants he will sell next year. Very small-about 6 inches, very, very rugose and is getting ready to open flowers. Here is a photo.

Very interesting. I'll be watching to see how productive this little guy is.

I grew Besser a couple years ago in the greenhouse. It was very tasty, but stingy with the fruit.

Sherry-Was your besser rugose? I have never grown it.

I don't think it was, but I have no pictures or notes to prove it. I do know I'd grow it again though.

Tom-Here is the latest photo, taken today. There are several flowers, no fruit set yet. Its 7 inches tall.

I have fruit now-still green-tiny almost paste-like so far. As you can see, very dense rugose foliage.

Plant is almost 10 inches tall.

Here is a photo today with fruit getting ripe. Looks like a little Christmas tree with ornaments on it.

This gets more and more interesting. Looks like grape-shaped fruit. As I recall, I had perfectly round ones.

Sherry-They are more elongated than grapes. When I pick one, I will post a photo. Strange looking little plant, and strange looking fruit.

I've tried to be patient waiting for your photo, but ...

(Can you tell it's raining here today and I just don't have enough to do???)

How did they taste? I didn't grow Besser this year, but next time I do I'm going to pay closer attention to plant habit, etc.

Sherry-Sorry I didnt post a photo-no reason to-real spitter-I sent seed back to Fusion, cause that was my agreement-did not save any seed for me, and would not grow again.
