Campari Tomatos
Friends brought me a package of these tomatos to eat while recuperating from a back injury. My American Bulldog saw and tried to catch a Racoon during our thrice daily walk and pulled me down. I've never seen or heard of this tomato before and was surprised at how much better they are when compared with other store bought types. Is anyone familiar with this variety?

These have become my standby during the winter. You can only get them at Sams here. I did save seed but forgot where I put them when it came time to plant. I will try to seed some next year. They are the best hands down store bought, in fact I went to Sams just to pick some up today!

I found out that the Tomatos came from Costco's. They were grown in Arizona and are grown and marketed by Euro Fresh farms. Website:www.eurofresh.com

The seeds for Campari are available from Enza which is a dutch company supplying commercial growers.

I just finished my Easter grocery shopping & there they were ... "Campari" tomatoes, product of USA - $4.99Cdn for 1.1lbs (500g). So I had to buy them. I just had one on a sandwich & one by itself. The flavour is "OK" - but definitely superior to other supermarket choices. Maybe they would taste better out of my own garden IF they are OP. Does anyone know?
Since I was on a roll, I decided to buy Dole brand Strawberry Tomatoes - on a truss of 16 in a plastic container (9oz - 256g) $3.99 Cdn. These have quite the tough skin when you bite into them. I wouldn't call the flavour "super sweet" as described on the package. But not bad. Hybrid? OP?? Then "Santa Sweets". I know I have seen posts about this one - a hybrid that comes true 99% of the time. These are from Plant City Florida. One pint, $2.49 Cdn. This is the first time I have found them at our grocery store. So I'll save some seeds from these. Should I save seed from Campari & Strawberry? (Can you tell it's been about 7 months of "real" tomato deprivation up here?? But my seedlings are coming along - some have 3rd set of true leaves!!) Kim

Well, I found them today too... at Sam's.
2 lbs for $4.88. They taste pretty good. Definately better than what I've been getting at the supermarket.
