potting soil below seed starter
Planning to soak parsley seeds and start flats with parsley , marigolds, mint, pepper and tomato seeds over the next day or so.
Question: has anyone strong opinions, reasons, or thoughts (nay or yea) upon using potting soil as a base beneath my seed starter in my planting flats? Using Fafard products. And deep 54 and 36 cell flats. Thanks

Doing it now in fact. You pay maybe $5 bucks for that little bag of seed starter stuff and then I buy that Scott's potting soil which I mix with Black Kow. So 2 thirds is potting soil and maybe a inch of that seed starter mix. It seems to being ok because I have 100 pepper and tomato plants in full sun everyday now.

Have done it for years, think that it actually works better because the potting mix has much better drainage than the seed starting mix...
