Mulch Q
I have a question about newspaper mulch. I've read a few posts about how newspaper makes a good mulch, but I've always planted without any mulch at all. (Maybe that's why I have problems...) Forgive me if this sounds naiive, but I'm a newbie. When you mulch with newspaper, do you just spread out newspaper? Do you shred it? Am I missing something here?
BTW, I'm in southern Connecticut and plan on planting in about a week, as it's warming up nicely here. |

Thanks John. When are you planting, by the way?

hello
i mulch with papers as well. i take a 5 gallon bucket..fill it half full of water...then dunk the paper in the water..and spread it nicely under the tomato plant (about 2 sheet thickness), and any bare soil. then cover the paper with mulch so it does not blow away. no weeds, and no dirt splashing up to spread deseases. it sounds like a lot of work, but it really is not. hope this helps. jeri |
