Neva, I WAS thinking about "newbies" when I put the file together and decided to offer it to the public. But mostly, it was for me to refer to when I started planning my container garden setup. My small area of sunlight lets me do two rows of tubs about 3 feet apart. Height is critical. I try to do determinate and/or compact plants on the front row. Even so, I still have to trim some of my "front" plants.

Again, it is for rough planning, and one other thing.

A new variety can be added by inserting a new row. You can add columns and keep track of seed counts, sources, etc. This can make it easier to set up trades, and/or decide what varieties to ask for in a trade.

Take care

Ted

Dice,
Thanks for the info on Box Car Willie. Based on the averages at Dave's Garden, it looks to get pretty big. I have a Texas Tomato Cage marked for it.

Ted,
A rough average is what I'm looking for. I do worry about sun, but at this point, I'm most concerned about my cages. I have several of the square tomato cages that are nice and sturdy, but only 4 feet tall. Last year, my MP and my OTV both grew out of the cage and pull it right over the cliff. So I had to go down in the creek area to pick those tomatoes *with the critters*
This year, I got smart and moved the patch But I still hate the thought of wasting one of my few big cages with a mater that will max out at 5 feet. It's not like you can just trade cages. LoLoL

For me, I find that Earl's Faux's are somewhat shorter than Marianna's Peace or Stump of the World. ( Also earlier and tastier.)
