Green Sand as soil ammendment/fertilizer

Has any one had any experience or have any opinions on the use of green sand as a soil ammendment in growing tomatoes?

i used it in my garden 10 years ago but i broadcast it. iirc it lasts 7 years so you don't need to add it very often. i used it for the micro nutrients it has based upon an organic gardening article from the '90's.

I broadcast it on my beds in early spring this year. I do not really
expect any result from it until next year, after the worms,
bacteria, and fungi have had a year to chew on it. It is under
a few inches of mowed cover crop and compost, so the minerals
in it should be easily accessed by roots once the microfauna
have broken it down some.

I got a 50-lb bag at a nursery and garden supply that also carries
feed and landscape materials. Farm supply stores may have it
for less $.

I saw it at Tractor Supply just last week if you have a TSC store nearby.

Contact Soil Mender Products (soilmender.com). One can often learn of the closest known retail outlet possibility near you. They work through larger distribution entities and it is the distributor who knows MORE about what retail stores they sell to.

Greensand is a very dense and heavy material. One can order from SM with a credit card and have it UPS'd. If you want the higher % of mineral content ask for the New Jersey greensand.

I applied greensand under the dripline of my tart red cherry tree last fall and again in early March of this year. I had a surge of new branch growth and the most abundant crop of cherries in the 11 years of this tree.
