Tony's Italian - WOW
Just had a Tony's for dinner - a great big wow on this one - rich, robust tomato flavor. Had one at the Midwest tomato fest and it was so-so - definitely needed another day or so. But this one - I can only imagine the sauce to come - the vine is loaded -and still setting - now if only enough will ripen at once to make sauce. Very large plants. Definitely will come back next year. piegirl

I'm glad that some seeds are getting around after I offered in a recent seed offer here b'c off hand I don't know of any commercial source for it although I didn't take the time to Google it.
it was brought to NJ in the 1920's by a Sicilian family.

A giant thank you for the seeds - it really is great - now I'll be out there watching and waiting for them to turn - just have to remember to save some seeds before eating! piegirl

mariseeds.com {Marianna's Heirloom Seeds) is the only commercial source I know of. Here's the blurb. Outstanding flavor from these 4 -6 oz. scarlet plums Originally brought to New Jersey from a Sicilian family in the early 1920's. Nice solid flesh with few seeds.

I grew tony's italian this year and I have to be honest- I was not impressed. I got my seeds from mariseed. I think the mariseed tony's italian is different than he one that ic commonly mentioned on this forum
The tony' italian from mariseed are small little saladete tomatos. About 1 round and deep red. Pie girl - is that what your tomatoes look like?

About 1 round and deep red
**** Red is correct, but round is not. Smallish plum type and most fruits should have pointed ends, as in wee nipples. I checked Google IMAGES but the one picture shown doesn't look right to me either. If the fruits are really round on all plants being grown then it might be courtesy to let Marianne know about it.
