I'm sure it would make a huge difference here. I'm just trying to figure out where I could set up something like that beside the house on a south facing wall....hmmmmm. Nope....right now I have no bed availabe to set up something like yours. But I'll keep it in mind. I might try it for putting out seedlings. But then again an actual greenhouse would be even better....sighhhh.....now if only I'd won that lottery last night. LOL

Wow oh wow! I'm green with envy....pout pout. Mine are nowhere near ready to produce such bounty. But they're growing like weeds since I set all the containers out on the concrete patio area to catch the heat and rays. But I'm still trying to figure out where I could put a similiar set up.

Your two threads are fascinating, dcarch!

Are both systems still working, and are there any amendments to the original specs?

Nothing much. The poly panels (Twin-wall) are used only part of the year, I expect them to last forever. All the other components, including the Velcro plant ties are reusable, nothing to buy.

The only change perhaps, next year I may expand the system.

One thing interesting this year, with Late Blight rampant in the N.E., while I have been infected in many areas in the garden, the plants seem to resist/outgrow the LB problem as well as many other typical tomato problems, even I don't rotate crops and I don't do any sanitary practices other than some spraying when I have time. I don’t even dispose of diseased plant matters away from the plants.
Of the 60 or so plants, I’ve only lost three.

I don’t know if this is because of the system inherently gives better light and air penetration, or my extreme early planting with deep strong root growth is the key, or it could be just luck. Knock on wood. Fingers crossed.

Picture taken a few weeks ago. Plants reaching ten feet to the top of the No-Cage-No-Stakes support system.
